🎨 Behind the Cover: Watch Me Design My “Sudoku On the Go” Book Cover
Creating a book is more than just writing or formatting—the cover matters. It’s the first thing readers see, and if you’re self-publishing, it’s often the difference between someone clicking or scrolling past.
In my latest video, I’m trying something a little different.
I put together a timelapse video showing how I designed the cover for my new puzzle book series, Sudoku On the Go. This isn’t just a silent speed build—I also recorded my thoughts and shared commentary throughout the process so you can understand why I made the design choices I did.
The full design process was originally part of a 4-hour livestream (yes, really). It took me about 3 hours to finalize the cover, and in this video, you’ll get a condensed look at how it all came together—from blank canvas to a KDP-ready cover.
🎥 What You’ll See in the Video:
A full timelapse of my book cover design using Canva
My thought process behind fonts, layout, and color choices
Tips on designing for KDP’s requirements
Real-time commentary on what worked, what didn’t, and how I fixed it
A preview of the final Sudoku On the Go book cover
This is a great watch for:
New KDP creators trying to improve their cover game
Canva users looking for real workflow examples
Anyone curious about how a puzzle book comes together visually
Followers of my Daniel Does journey (thank you!)
📚 Why This Matters
When it comes to low-content and puzzle books, your cover is often the most important part of your listing. It needs to grab attention, feel clean and professional, and still match the theme of your book. In this video, you’ll see how I approach all of that—with no design background and using only the tools available to anyone.
If you’re building your own books or brand, this behind-the-scenes look could help you avoid common mistakes and pick up a few ideas to apply to your own covers.

🔔 What’s Coming Next?
In my next video, I’ll be diving into Facebook and Instagram ads—how I ran them for my books, how much I spent, and how much I actually earned. So make sure you're subscribed to the channel so you don’t miss it.
Thanks for being part of the journey!
